CH Environmental Services were called to a commercial site in Swansea as the customer was experiencing blocked drainage issues.
On arrival to site our operative carried out an investigation, finding mass root covering the bottom of a foul manhole chamber approximately 6 inches thick. Due to the manhole depth, confined space access equipment was required to access the deep manhole. Additional operatives were dispatched to the site along with a jet vac unit to pump out sewerage from the upstream manholes before access could be made.
A confined space entry was made into the manhole to remove the mass root blanketing the bottom of the chamber. Our specialist reinstating and drain root cutting Picote Chain Cutter was used to clear root from the 100mm verified clay pipe work, restoring full flow.
We carried out a CCTV drain survey up and down stream to ensure no further issues were identified.
