Drain Root Cutting and Removal
CH Environmental have years of experience in drain root cutting forĀ blockages, ensuring that customers drains or sewer pipes remain in top condition.
Drains can be damaged in many ways, with two major causes that can’t be cleared by the usual methods. Those are tree roots and scale buildup inside cast-iron pipes. The most common problem is root ingress from bushes and trees. Tree roots love to grow inside sewer pipes and drain lines, attracted to the water vapours seeping from the joints of the pipe line. The roots grow towards water, wrapping their small roots around the pipe to find a weakness, then gradually forcing their way through joints or fractures in order to get to the water and nutrients inside. Over time, they grow so dense they then create obstructions that slow the flow of water, allowing solids to build up, ultimately resulting in blockages and long term damage to the pipe and surrounding areas. With traditional rodding with a cutter, you may have things flowing again but in no time, the roots will clog the pipe again.
With older houses using cast iron sewer pipes, the naturally soft, slightly acidic water of South West Wales has penetrated the inner surface of the pipes causing corrosion buildup, snagging solids and gradually reducing the flow through the pipe.
CH Environmental Drainage offer CCTV Drain Surveys and Root Cutting Services have specialist electro-mechanical root cutting machinery. The Picote machine cuts out roots and cement without causing damage to the sewer lines. The same machine is also used to descale sewer lines and using different cutting attachments will remove the rust build up within cast iron pipework. Our root cutting equipment will cut away any tree roots or fibrous plant material which has damaged and penetrated the drainage system. This equipment is also used to descale sewer lines and using different cutting attachments will remove the rust build up within cast iron pipework as well as tackling blockages caused by soil, sand or even grease, among other obstructions.
